The Firm successfully tries cases to completion, even in difficult jurisdictions. In addition to our direct litigation docket, the Firm coordinates the defense of clients on a regional and national basis.
Attorneys from the Firm routinely accept invitations to speak at local, state and national legal seminars and occupational health and safety professional meetings. The Firm is an active member of both the Defense Research Institute and the Texas Association of Defense Counsel.
Toxic Torts
Jenkins & Martin’s attorneys have decades of experience in toxic tort litigation and have always been at the forefront of trends in managing and defending toxic tort, complex, and multi-party litigation. Our attorneys were among the first to represent multiple defendants in a joint defense arrangement. Moreover, attorneys in the Firm have effectively defended a number of cases in which they simultaneously represented between two and twelve defendants. Our attorneys have been involved in a number of first impression trials in the toxic tort field, including the first asbestos class action case certified in the country, the first large consolidated (non-class) case in the country, one of the initial fibrous glass inhalation cases and a very early cancer-phobia trial resulting from acute exposure to benzene.
Insurance Defense
The Firm has substantial experience in handling all types of personal injury and insurance defense cases, including car wreck, multi-vehicle accident, premises, deceptive trade practices, insurance coverage, bad faith, property damage and hurricane related cases. Attorneys in the Firm have tried hundreds of personal injury and insurance defense cases in numerous counties throughout Southeast Texas, with a high percentage resulting in defense verdicts. In addition, we have handled numerous arbitrations and mediations with favorable results for our clients. Our attorneys have a wide variety of experience in both State and Federal courts. Additionally, in 2007 one of our attorneys has been named as one of the top five personal injury defense lawyers in the State of Texas by the Texas Lawyer in its “Go-To-Guide” (published every 5 years).
